“Coraline” Back in Theaters in 3D

“Coraline,” a movie that was released in 2009 is now back in theaters, but in 3D. Henry Senlick, the director of “Coraline,” wanted to put a twist on his famous children's movie. “Coraline” is known as an eerie and overall dark children's movie with hidden messages throughout. Now that the movie is playing for a limited time in theaters, does 3D make it that much better? Although the fear factor is more prominent when watching it at a young age, the movie is still a classic that will let everyone's inner child out.

In the 2D version of “Coraline,” Senlick gives many hiddens clues throughout, making each watch change slightly. At first, many viewers are oblivious to these discrete parts in the movie unless they are told what they are or pay very close attention to the movie. In the 3D, however, these hidden clues are much more prominent, making sure the audience catches them.

Watching it in 3D is a surreal experience. Although the movie did not change, the feel of it did. In 3D, all of Senlicks ideas and intricate scenes are coming face to face with viewers, enhancing their engagement, whereas in 2D the characters seem to stay in the TV. Overall, portrayal significantly boosts the scare factor.

“Coraline” is one of the first ever kids movies to be categorized as a horror film. Senlick wants his audience to feel uneasy watching the film. He adds bizarre characters and implements darker colors giving it that gloomy effect, which can be seen in both 3D and 2D. In 3D, the scare factor is more pronounced and truly conveys what Senlick wanted, but 2D still does the job.

The “Coraline” movie in 3D is a fantastic watch with prominent hidden clues, an amazing 3D experience and a better scare factor. The 2D version of this movie is also incredible but with a different feel to it. The 3D version is more expensive, so if viewers do not want to spend the extra bucks, the 2D version is fantastic as well. Overall, “Coraline” is a memorable movie that is amazing in both 3D and 2D.
