On Nov. 7, President-elect Donald Trump appointed Susan Wiles as White House Chief of Staff. No woman has ever held this position before.
Susan Wiles was Trump’s campaign manager for his 2024 campaign and is credited with securing his sweeping presidential win. She has little federal government experience and prefers to stay behind the scenes, recently declining to make a statement when Trump called on her to.
The White House Chief of Staff has an important role in the oval office. Wiles will have to direct all policy development and daily operations as well as decide who Trump will speak with.
This is Trump’s first major decision as president-elect. In his first term in 2016, he went through four chief of staffs.
“Susie is tough, smart, innovative and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again,” Trump said in a statement. “It is a well deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”
