What Makes a Good Graduation Party

With graduation right around the corner, many seniors are planning their graduation celebrations. Graduation is a major milestone that marks the beginning of a chapter in a graduate's life. A graduation party is the perfect way to celebrate, but it is important to make sure your party stands out. Several ways to do this include a fun theme, good food and good music. A good grad party does not have to be extravagant or expensive as long as the grad feels celebrated, and the party feels genuine, that's all that matters.
1. Original Theme
A unique theme is what makes a party unforgettable. Some fun themes include: casino night, tacos and tassels, bon voyage, Taylor Swift “Grad Era” and “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” Themes help the party feel put together rather than generic. Themes also guide decor shopping, making the party visually appealing. Balloons, posters and props look cohesive and put together with a theme. A theme also simplifies party planning because everything comes from one idea.
2. Good Music
Music sets the mood for everything; if the music is bad, people will likely say the event was bad. When making a playlist, it is important to have a little bit of everything: acoustic, 2000s pop, Indie, Country, Hip Hop, etc. Music is especially important to keep the party from getting awkward. When people are eating or talking amongst themselves, music can help fill the awkward gaps. A thoughtful playlist ensures the party is filled with good vibes all night.
3. Food
Good food at a grad party is crucial. The menu can be custom and creative toward the graduates as well. Some food ideas include pizza, tacos, burgers, the graduate’s favorite childhood snacks or other signature family dishes. Themed food stations can add to the party's overall theme and decor. Making sure your guests are well fed and taken care of is also an important role in being a good host.
Overall, throwing a graduation party is easier than some might think. As long as the guests are well fed, the music is entertaining and the theme is unique, the party will be a success. A graduation party is about celebrating the graduates; if they are happy, that's all that matters.
