Despite an upsetting loss to Trinity Catholic to end the Marauders season, it was one to remember. On Tuesday, Oct. 24, the Marauders traveled down to Ocala, Florida to face the Trinity Catholic Celtics in the regional quarterfinals. The Marauders hoped to bounce back from their frustrating loss against Chiles and keep their season alive. However, Maclay was no match for the Celtics as they wound up losing 3-0.

Even though the loss to Trinity Catholic was a heartbreaker, their season was defined through the way they handled and worked through their failures. The Marauders did not let their losses hang over their head as they never had a three game losing streak at any point of the season.

“We had a pretty good season,” junior Ava Molthen said. “We definitely worked very hard and unfortunately it did not come out the way we wanted it to.”

While the outcome did not end in their favor, the Marauders had one incredible season. From the start of the year to the end, the Marauders vastly improved. Even though Maclay faced talented opponents, they never gave up.

“We improved tremendously,” junior Landri Ross said. “I thought the girls really did a good job at coming together as a team, and I thought we fought hard, up until we lost to Trinity Catholic.”

As the Marauders’ season came to a close, the players reflected on their performance. They looked back on every moment and why each outcome occurred the way it did.

“I learned that one person can’t control the whole court; it has to be six,” Ross said.

One reason for the Marauders’ success was their team chemistry. From Halloween practice to team dinners, the Marauders became a family. Even though the season may have ended, their friendships will last forever.

“I gained new friendships and great bonds with the girls on the team,” Molthen said.

From a wonderful win against Blountstown to qualifying for regionals, the Marauders had an unforgettable season. The Marauders achieved more than anyone thought; their hard work and diligence turned many heads throughout the Maclay and Tallahassee communities.
