On Sept. 12, Maclay held its annual Honor Code Signing. This Maclay tradition consists of each new member of the upper school signing the book of honor.

The ceremony began with a welcome from Assistant Head of School and Director of Upper School Charles Beamer followed by Upper School Academic Dean and the sponsor of the Honor Council Angela Croston introducing the new Honor Council members.

After reciting the Honor Council Pledge, upper school Student Council Co-President Kayla Iarossi introduced the guest speaker Alan Hanstein. Hanstein touched on the ideas of being honorable, respectful and accountable.

Select students played music while each new student and faculty member walked up, signed the book and wrote their name in Maclay’s history. Once everyone had signed, Head of School James Milford shared his closing remarks. The ceremony ended with freshman Sloan Strickland leading the upper school in the Alma Mater.
