On Thursday, April 3, the Maclay boys varsity baseball team hosted a game against Jefferson County. Not only was this one of the last home games, but it was also senior night for Hunter Smith. Accompanied by his family, Smith was recognized for his accomplishments on and off the field.

“My favorite part of Maclay Baseball has been the bonds I’ve made with my teammates,” Smith said.

The game started at 5 p.m., and Maclay took the field first. Smith was at second base, junior Ben Wagnon was at first base, Noah Chavez was at third base, Landon Barineau was in right field, sophomore Jack Koon was on the mound, J.R. Thompson was behind the plate, Beau Beshears was at shortstop, Henry Richardson was in center field, Tucker Poppell was in left field and freshman Nikky Fiore was the R.D.H.

With grit and determination, the Marauders defeated the Tigers 10-0. This win resulted from smart baserunning, forceful hits and strong defense. Maclay will head to Jacksonville to face Bolles this Saturday, April 5.
