On Thursday, Feb. 20 the Maclay boys soccer team faced off against the Episcopal Eagles in their 2A regional final at Frank Shaw field. In this game the Marauders dominated the Eagles in amazing fashion destroying Episcopal 8-1 and winning the regional championship. This helped the Marauders clinch a berth to the state final four.

“The goal of winning a state championship was something we have wanted since day one,” junior Max Colon said. “The overall journey of this goal and watching it happen in real time is amazing.”

The Marauders offense was immaculate this game. They were led by senior Barnes Ray who scored four goals against the Eagles. Along with him, the goals came from Zach Ghazvini, Luke Daunt, Jack Daunt and Zac Scovotto.

“The best part was celebrating with my teammates and holding the trophy,” sophomore Colin Meagher said. “It’s extremely important to win the regional final because it shows just how far we have come.”

The Marauders' road to a state championship will start back up again when they face the Tampa Prep Terrapins on Feb. 27 at Spec Martin Stadium in Deland.
