“Smile 2” delivers a suspenseful and intense continuation of the chilling horror from its predecessor. While adding on the psychological and supernatural components that made the first film so intriguing, the sequel stays true to the terrible mood of the original. This time, the movie explores the origins of the evil entity more thoroughly and the trauma the characters still carry so the audience is left worrying about what will happen next. “Smile 2” is a fun horror movie to watch that is a nice step into horror movies finally making a return.

Naomi Scott shows off her talent as an actress, bringing a powerful and layered performance. Her portrayal of Skye is what makes this movie so captivating. She adds depth to the emotional turmoil her character endures throughout the film, showcasing her versatility as an actress. One of the standout moments in the movie is when Scott’s exceptional dance choreography, which is both cool to watch and unsettling at the same time, perfectly fits the tone of the movie. Scott’s physicality and emotional depth make her character’s journey even more gripping.

The film seamlessly builds onto the story that was laid by the first film, expanding on how the curse first started and delving deeper into the psychological torment experienced by those afflicted by the curse. This movie has a much better improvement on the scares which were already good in the first one. It can make the already unsettling smile even more this time and add a sense of impending doom that never goes away for the entire movie. The effects in this movie as well are much improved and significantly contribute to the movie.

The cinematography in “Smile 2” is masterful, creating a sense of unease and dread through its use of unsettling angles and claustrophobic framing. It uses darkness to its advantage and always has the audience second-guessing when they see something. The smile is the perfect uncanny concept that brings such an unsettling image to this movie that always has you worried about when it will happen next. The haunting score further enhances the atmosphere, amplifying the tension and leaving a lasting impression.

Overall, “Smile 2” is a fun horror movie that definitely shouldn't be skipped over.
