The Maclay varsity boys lacrosse team played home on March 26 against the Leon Lions for their senior night. The boys ended the game winning with a score of 8-2, making their record 7-5 and leaving the field full of excitement and heads held high.
“We did a lot more constant drills, conditioning and playing when we were tired because we had a lot of injured players so we all had to be in shape,” junior captain Abram Wildrick said. “All players really had to step up today.”
By halftime, the Marauders were in the lead 4-0, with freshman Ben Gregory scoring the first goal of the game. The boys came out of the locker room ready to add more points to the scoreboard, and that's exactly what they did. They scored four more goals and with the help of their goalie Seann Vantassel, only allowed the Lions to score two goals.
“I think it [the game] went pretty well and we got a good win for senior night,” senior Ryder Marks said. “I think I played good, could have fixed a few things but overall me and the rest of the defense had a good game.”
The Marauders will return for another home game on Thursday, March 27, the first ever in school lacrosse game. They hope to beat Lincoln with the whole school cheering them on from the stands, or even from the classroom.
