Murder Mystery?
Albany State University Shooting
The sound of gunfire rang out across the East Campus of Albany State University (ASU) recently, leaving a 19-year-old dead and several injured. Hundreds of people were celebrating a football game victory during Homecoming week when shots were fired toward their direction.
The shooting at ASU is one of many that is sparking more conversations about gun law reforms. There have been about 420 mass shootings across the United States so far this year.
The shooter is yet to be identified and no one is in custody, but the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Albany Police Department are currently working on the investigation. Students are advised to report suspicious activity to the ASU LiveSafe app.
“The Albany State University family is deeply saddened to learn of an incident that took place on campus at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024,” the university’s interim president Lawrence M. Drake II said. “As always, the safety and security of our ASU students, faculty and staff are the number one priority of this institution.”
