The Maclay varsity football team had worked hard coming into their final regular season game. Heading into the game at Taylor County on Friday, Nov. 1, Maclay was looking to end the regular season off strong before playoffs. After a tight battle and a last-minute drive, Maclay came up just short and lost 35-28.
“I played okay,” senior Ryder Marks said. “I started off slow but picked it up as the game went on.”
Marks was not the only player who was able to keep the game close as quarterback George Grant connected with Zeke Podgorski for a huge touchdown. These big plays are what Maclay hopes to bring to the playoffs.
“We played well,” junior Manny Arisso said. “The mistakes we made were unfortunate but are fixable.”
This loss brings Maclay’s record to 6-3 on the season. The Marauders will play their first playoff game on Nov. 15, hoping to make a strong postseason run.
