The most-watched Monday Night Football game in 27 years on Nov. 20 showcased a rematch of last year's Super Bowl. The highly anticipated game between the Chiefs and Eagles lived up to the hype. The game featured star-studded players such as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown. Both teams showed why they are the best of the best with game changing plays and spectacular catches.
The game intensified right out of the gate as the Chiefs scored the first points of the game. Patrick Mahomes demonstrated his skills with a touchdown pass in the first quarter earning his legacy as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles quickly responded with a touchdown of their own to even the score 7-7.
The second quarter proved to be challenging for the Eagles. Jalen Hurts threw an interception at the start of the quarter, but the Chiefs relinquished the ball right to the Eagles after a Patrick Mahomes interception. The Eagles were unable to capitalize on the Chiefs’ mistake as they could not move the ball. On the other hand, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs found their groove following a Travis Kelce touchdown, propelling them toa 14-7 lead. The Chiefs settled for a field goal to end the half after another disappointing Eagles drive.
The second half started with four punts, two from each team, but with three minutes left in the third quarter, Jalen Hurts ran it in for an Eagles touchdown. The quarter ended shortly after the drive, with the score 17-14 Chiefs heading into the fourth quarter.
The Chiefs started the fourth quarter with a nice drive as they found themselves 14 yards away from a touchdown. However, the Eagles defense stepped up after a forced fumble that gave Philadelphia the momentum. Even with the momentum, the Eagles offense seemed lifeless, but the defense repeatedly made game changing plays. After yet another Eagles defensive stop, Jalen Hurts drove down the field and scored a touchdown to take the lead 21-17 Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs struggled to generate any offensive momentum, and the Eagles' defense ultimately thwarted the Chiefs once again, securing a decisive victory.
