A small Alaskan plane recently went missing but was later discovered buried in the snow near the coast. There were 10 people on board with no survivors, including the pilot. The plane was traveling from Unalakleet to Nome on Thursday, Feb. 6 when it went missing and was found on Friday. All of the bodies were recovered and were taken to Nome where they would later be identified by Alaska State Troopers. The Coast Guard said it is not yet known what caused the plane to lose altitude and crash and the results of it will not be revealed for a while.
The severity of the crash would leave no survivors. Two people who died in the crash were on a work trip for a non-profit tribal health organization. The other people’s names have not yet been released. The plane crash marks the third major plane mishap in the United States in eight days. The city said prayer vigils would be held Friday for the people on board, family and friends and those involved in the search efforts.
