On Saturday, Jan. 25, Maclay welcomed schools from all over the region to campus to compete in a regional Mu Alpha Theta competition. Not only did Maclay host a successful competition, but the school’s Mu Alpha Theta team also won first overall. Maclay’s combined team and individual scores allowed them to score higher than every other school competing.
Each of Maclay’s teams placed in the top three. Among the high school teams, algebra II and precalculus took third, while calculus and statistics took first. Maclay also competed in algebra II with a middle school team that placed second in their division.
Maclay had a strong showing in the individual round as well. Among the school’s high scorers were Suhani Gawde, Medha Konda and Megan Vegas who each took third place in calculus, algebra II and statistics, respectively.
Maclay Mu Alpha Theta’s next event is regionals at Lincoln High School on Feb. 15 where they hope to bring home the gold again.
