The top swimmers from all around Florida traveled to Ocala on Friday, Nov. 15 to bring home the gold. Nine Marauders qualified for states, two from the boys team and four from the girls. All nine swimmers’ preparation and practice led up to this moment, and they all left everything “in the pool.”

Seniors Blake Rhodes, Vuk Usina, junior Grayson Banks, sophomore Manny Squirter and freshman William Chen represented the Marauder boys team with most swimmers qualifying for multiple events. Rhodes, Squiter, Banks and Usina competed in the 400-yard freestyle relay, placing 18th. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Rhodes, Squirter, Banks and Chen finished in 12th place. Rhodes and Squirter also qualified for the 200-yard freestyle, with Rhodes finishing 12th in the state with a time of 1:43.21 and Squirter placing 26th with a time of 1:47.53. Lastly, Rhodes finished in 13th place in the 400-yard freestyle.

On the girls’ side, seniors Lauren Carter, Zara Jaffe, sophomore Madison Wainwright and freshman Molly Lambert qualified for the 400-yard freestyle relay, placing 24th in the state with a 3:55.91.

With all nine swimmers succeeding in the state meet, the Marauders end the season on a high note.
