On Saturday, Feb.15, Maclay’s Mu Alpha Theta team attended a regional math competition hosted by Lincoln High School. After winning the first round of regionals hosted on their campus, Maclay’s mathletes once again secured first place overall. Their combined team and individual scores in each category allowed Maclay to score higher than every other school competing.

Among the high school teams, algebra II took third, calculus and statistics took second and precalculus took first. Maclay Middle also competed in algebra II with a team that placed fourth in their division.

Maclay was successful in the individual round as well with several Marauders placing in the top 10. Among the high scorers were Kai Okui who took second in precalculus, Santi Nunez who took sixth in statistics and Diya Patel who took seventh in calculus.

The mathletes are now hard at work preparing for the March regional at Florida High School where they hope to place first once again.
