Maclay families across generations gathered to celebrate One School Grandparents Day on Friday, Nov. 8. Held annually, Grandparents Day is a special event organized by the Maclay Community Association inviting grandparents to connect with the school and their grandchildren. The event took place in collaboration with Veterans Salute, so students, families and faculty were all wearing red, blue or white.

Middle and upper school families enjoyed breakfast in the Webster Center, and the students led their grandparents on a tour around the campus from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. PreK 3&4, Kindergarten to second grade and third to fifth grade each had a musical performance at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Cartee Gym in front of their grandparents. Before each performance, the audience watched a video honoring veterans, and Head of School James Milford gave a speech highlighting the importance of connection in family and community. Grandparents could also join their students in the Lower School Commons. The event was streamed live on Maclay’s Youtube channel for families who were not able to join in person.
