Is It What You Think It Is?

Elon Musk Accused of Doing a Controversial Salute at President Trump’s Inauguration

On Jan. 20, Elon Musk, a well-known multi-billionaire and owner of Tesla and X, was accused of doing the controversial Nazi salute. Musk slapped his right hand on his chest before shooting his arm diagonally upward, and his palm facing down. Musk not only did this once, but twice.

This stunt left people with many different opinions, some people being in utter disbelief and denial whilst others were defending Musk saying that it was a Roman salute or a heartfelt gesture. There were many varying opinions on what people thought it was but the main conclusion people came to was that it was a Nazi salute.

Musk replied to these assumptions with multiple posts on X including Nazi-themed puns. “His pronouns would’ve been He/Him/Himmler” and “Bet you did nazi that coming” Musk posted.

He also replied with a short statement in an attempt to defend himself.

“Frankly, they need better dirty tricks,” Musk said on X. “The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”

His movement has not yet been debunked and Elon is still facing widespread hate almost a week after his “gesture.”
