On Nov. 6 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., junior Collins Dickson presented his artwork to the Maclay community in the Beck Family Innovation Center Gallery. BFIC Gallery was decked out in Dickson’s art, consisting of both 3D art and drawings of cars.

Dickson’s passion for art began when he was in lower school. For his 3D art, he works with mediums such as cardboard, paper, tape, Bondo/finishing and glaze putty, filler primer and spray paint.

“I’d say probably in fourth grade, I just started getting into it,” Dickson said. “It was mainly, though, my grandpa. But I’ve always been into drawing and stuff, and then in fourth grade, that was mainly when I started getting into cars, and then I started drawing them and then it just kind of kept going.”

Also on display were works by emerging artists, eighth grader Elizabeth Herzog and fifth grader Fiona Walker. Herzog’s focus of art consists of mediums such as marker, acrylic paint, watercolor and pencils. Walker has a passion for photography and capturing moments in nature.

There was also coffee and breakfast available for everyone to enjoy while viewing the art.
