Many hurricanes have marked the map this year. As the season comes to a close, there’s still one more hurricane storming through the Caribbean and Atlantic. According to the National Hurricane Center, Rafael tore through Cuba on Nov. 7. Initially its winds only merited a tropical storm but it was a category three by the time it made landfall in Cuba. As of Nov. 8, Rafael has been traveling west across the Gulf of Mexico with consistently strong winds. It maintains 110 mph sustained winds though it is expected to weaken as it moves through the gulf. Rafael is projected to follow this track into the week of Nov. 11 barring a slight northwestward motion. While it bypassed Florida and the rest of the United States, forecasters are still keeping an eye on the storm as it continues to exhibit hurricane-force winds. From Hurricanes Beryl to Rafael this season held much devastation for those it impacted.
