When it comes to workouts, Tallahassee has a large variety of options. Whether you are an athletic individual looking for a classic workout, a beginner looking for somewhere to start or even looking for classes to keep you motivated, Tallahassee has options that will suit every fitness level. Between a variety of pilates sessions, to more intense High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and cardio or even a classic weightlifting session, there is something for everyone.

1. FIT 850

Fit 850 is a pilates studio with a very modern feel. This fast-paced low-impact workout class uses modern reformer machines to combine strength training and flexibility. There are two locations in Tallahassee, in both midtown and college town, that offer classes throughout the day starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. These 45 minute classes are extremely efficient and difficult. Instructors take members through a series of exercises, working center core, obliques, arms and legs in every class. These workouts are low impact but high intensity, perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Pilates at FIT 850 will help tone and define muscles while increasing flexibility. Classes are extremely easy to book through the FIT 850 app and there are a variety of membership options, making it accommodating to busy schedules and budgets. Although these workouts are intense, the results are amazing and the instructors choose motivating music to keep everyone pushing through the workout.

2. Club Pilates

Club Pilates offers more traditional pilates classes. With classic reformers and pilates techniques, these classes are designed to build strength, flexibility and body awareness. The variety of memberships allow flexibility to schedules and budgets. At Club Pilates, new members begin on the lowest level and must work their way up in order to attend more difficult classes. This way, it is ensured that members are focusing on form and preparing them for more difficult positions and higher intensities. Club Pilates low impact workouts are perfect for any age and fitness levels. Due to its welcoming and slow nature, Club Pilates is the ideal option for someone who has never tried pilates before.

3. Hot Worx

HotWorx provides a very unique workout experience using infrared heat during classes in order to properly detoxify the body. Pilates, yoga, HIIT and band classes are offered. All classes are led virtually through a TV in each sauna which reaches up to 125 degrees. These 45 minute classes are efficient and very flexible to members. With a 24 hour access to the studio, members can do whatever they choose in their time. HotWorx is extremely flexible for beginners, allowing them to choose when to stop and start. These classes are a more self led experience, allowing for lots of flexibility. The infrared heat helps burn more calories, detoxifies the body and aids in muscle recovery.

4. Orange Theory

Orange Theory is a fitness center that offers HIIT workouts that attempts to maximize calorie burn. Each class includes an instructor guiding members through three different intervals including treadmills, rowing machines and a free weight section to provide an optimal full body workout. The goal of each class is to maintain your heart rate in the optimal fat burning zone called the “orange zone.” Members use heart rate monitors to track their heart rate and are able to see all the data on both the Orange Theory app as well as on the screen during classes. On the screen, everyone’s heart rate and zone appears creating a competitive and fun atmosphere where members can motivate each other. The motivating music keeps everyone engaged and the fast paced lively atmosphere is enjoyable. This combination of strength training and cardio will help tone and define muscles as well as improve cardiovascular health.

5. Drip Drop

Drip Drop Fitness is a local fitness class experience tailored mostly to women that offers fun dance cardio classes. The business combines dance cardio with toning exercises to foster a fun and engaging environment. The classes are designed to be easy to follow, even for non dancers, and very enjoyable. There are a few different class options with different instructors, each offering a unique but fun experience. “Happy Hour” with Summer Griffith is a classic dance cardio class, “Boost” with Gabi Rosenblatt incorporates both dance cardio and moderate toning exercises using bands and weights, “Power Hour” with Esther Rowan is a fast paced pilates class and “Power Half-Hour” with Aubrey Swikehardt is an abbreviated version of the “Power Hour” class. Each option provides an engaging experience that will keep members coming back.

Workout classes can be fun, but nothing beats a classic gym. Tallahassee offers a variety of full gyms. For example, Premier is a gym that offers a wide variety of options including fitness classes and personal training.
