On Jan. 25, actor Timothée Chalamet made a reappearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) in New York City to be the host and musical guest for the night.
Recently, Chalamet acted in “A Complete Unknown,” a biopic about singer Bob Dylan. On SNL, Chalamet performed three of the singer’s songs that are his favorites. He sang “Outlaw Blues,” “Three Angels” and “Tomorrow Is a Long Time.” Rather than focusing on imitating Dylan, Chalamet sang the songs in his own vocal style, paying tribute to the artist without copying him.
In his monologue, he referenced his new look, joked about his double role as a host and musical guest–acknowledging that he wasn’t the first to do it–and mentioned his recent projects. He also did a segment where he brought up his constant award show losses, showing his reactions over time. He asked the audience to pretend that he had finally won, only for the “award” to go to another cast member, at which he glared. He ended his monologue by thanking SNL for the opportunity, joking that they were either being nice or pranking him.
As a host, he performed in various skits, notable ones being “New Barista Training,” “Bungee,” “AI Software” and “Grandma’s Birthday.” In one skit, he dressed up in a wig as a bungee workout instructor who acted as if his class was hard when, in reality, it was counterproductive. In other skits, he broke out into dance, hosted a podcast and saved a grandma from dying.
