Every year, similar to the powderpuff football game for the girls, boys from each grade play against each other in a volleyball game. Girls from the volleyball team coach a group of boys who chose to play against their peers from different grades in a battle for a broball win.
On Thursday, Oct. 31, following the Halloween costume contest, the broball game was held in the Webster gym for each team to show off what they learned from their coaches. Each grade played against each other: seniors versus freshman, juniors versus sophomores, then winner versus winner.
“Once we had a team made we only had three practices before the game, but it was very hit or miss if they would actually listen,” junior Izzi Ward said. “First I would have to find all of them and make them actually come [to practice] but once they were there we had so much fun.”
Coaches would make group chats with their players, communicate when their practices would be and the details for the game. Broball can be taken as both a learning and a bonding experience between teams, just like the girls powderpuff games.
“It was not that hard [to learn to play] because I have kind of played before,” junior Zach Ghazvini said. “I will play again next year because I had a lot of fun.”
Ending the game, the seniors took the win after playing against the juniors in the final round. The 2025 seniors added to the seniors before them record for winning the games, and this fun tradition will be brought back next year. Will the seniors in 2026 keep up this winning streak?
