The Maclay varsity football team had started off the year strong prior to coming into Friday’s game on Oct. 18. They came into the game looking to beat rivals North Florida Christian Eagles for Maclay’s homecoming. The Eagles were no match for the Marauders, getting beat 41-0. This was the Marauders the first time beating NFC since the 2019 season, which instilled excitement in the team and fans. This performance continues Maclay’s strong season and takes the team’s record to 5-2 on the year.
“I played pretty good,” junior Abram Wildrick said. “A big play was when our defense blocked a punt in the third quarter.”
The blocked punt was one of many plays that led the Marauders to victory. These plays were the gamechangers that helped Maclay blow out North Florida Christian. The defense for Maclay even scored more points than the North Florida Christian offense.
“Our energy was high,” senior Davis Malone said. “My pick six and our team’s overall success is what led to the win.”
Maclay beating North Florida Christian brings them to just two more regular season games where the team looks to continue their success this season, including senior night on Oct. 25 which is the last home game for Maclay this year.
