Review of Gracie Abrams’ “The Secret of Us” Tour

Following the release of her album with the same name, singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams kicked off her “The Secret of Us” tour on Sept. 5, 2024 in the United States, and it will run through May 17, 2025 in Australia. With much anticipation, this tour lives up to all the excitement from fans, as Abrams has really honed her skills and perfected her live performance abilities. Gracie Abrams’ “The Secret of Us” tour was a smaller, more intimate show, but still lived up to expectations. 

Abrams performs all tracks from her album “The Secret of Us” along with some more popular songs from previous albums and EPs. For much of the show, Abrams performs alongside her band, giving a fully produced performance of her music, which is quite similar to the studio versions. From upbeat to emotional songs, the range of music in this show is incredible. For those who are die-hard fans of Abrams’ work, or even casual listeners, this show is perfect because it covers her more lyrical and emotional music as well as her happier, more upbeat music. 

In interviews, Abrams has expressed her unease and fear of live performances; however, she defies that in “The Secret of Us” tour. She displays her amazing vocals and musical abilities. For some songs, she walks around the stage as she sings and even interacts with fans while she does this. For other songs, she stays in one spot, playing the guitar or piano, displaying her musical talent beyond singing and songwriting. Her genuine talent in a variety of areas makes the concert an amazing experience.

The venues she played in the U.S. leg of her tour are all smaller theaters, which fit her perfectly as an artist. Much of the appeal to her live shows is the sense of community and friendship she has with her fans. The smaller venues allow for her to be closer to the audience, interacting directly with people, and even taking pictures sometimes with fans while she is singing. Throughout the show, she waves at fans, talks to them and interacts with signs and posters in the crowd. She does all this, never missing a beat, making for a really special experience.

Overall, Abrams’ “The Secret of Us” tour might be her best so far. Though the scope of her career has expanded, she has stayed true to herself, while showing her growth as an artist. This show was entertaining, well-produced and the concert all fans of Abrams were hoping for.
